Community Mission

The Houston
Shelter Program

When someone loses their housing, they shouldn't have to lose their animal too. AAS is the only boarding facility in Houston with a formal homeless shelter pet partnership program.

๐Ÿ
The Problem We're Solving

No One Should Choose
Between Shelter & Their Pet

Houston has one of the highest rates of houselessness in the United States. Many Houston shelters don't accept pets โ€” meaning individuals must choose between getting off the street and keeping the one companion who has been by their side through everything.

"Pets are often the last relationship standing for individuals experiencing homelessness. The bond between a person and their animal is one of the most stabilizing forces in their life. Programs that honor that bond don't just help animals โ€” they stabilize families, improve mental health outcomes, and make the transition out of crisis more sustainable."

How It Works

The Program,
Step by Step

01
๐Ÿค
Shelter Partners
AAS signs MOUs with Houston homeless shelters โ€” they refer pet-owning residents to AAS at intake.
02
๐Ÿ
Free Boarding
AAS provides complimentary short-term boarding for the resident's pet while they stabilize and find housing.
03
โค๏ธ
Care & Updates
The pet receives full AAS care โ€” and the owner gets regular updates and video access during their transition.
04
๐ŸŽ‰
Reunification
When the owner stabilizes, AAS reunites them with their animal โ€” no fees, no barriers, no strings.
The Rescue Arm

Beyond the Shelter:
Stray Animal Rescue

The shelter program is one piece of a larger rescue mission. AAS's nonprofit arm โ€” operating under Aspire Next Gen's 501(c)(3) โ€” runs an active stray animal rescue operation in Houston's underserved neighborhoods.

Stray animals receive veterinary assessment, vaccination, treatment, and boarding at the AAS facility before placement in foster care or adoption. The same facility that houses premium boarding guests also houses rescue animals โ€” side by side, under the same roof, reflecting the same care standard.

Why This Matters for Investors

Mission Drives
Business Value

The rescue program and shelter partnership aren't charity spending โ€” they're strategic assets that generate measurable business value.

๐Ÿ“ฐ Earned Media
The shelter program generates local TV, newspaper, and social media coverage that no advertising budget can replicate โ€” at zero incremental cost.
๐Ÿ’ฐ Grant Revenue
PetSmart Charities, Banfield Foundation, and ASPCA all fund exactly this type of program. Year 2 grant target: $75Kโ€“$150K for the nonprofit arm.
๐Ÿ† Brand Differentiation
No Houston boarding competitor runs this program. AAS owns a story that no amount of money can manufacture โ€” and it converts directly into paying boarding clients.
๐ŸŒ Community Network
Shelter partnerships open doors to city government relationships, social services networks, and BIPOC community organizations that amplify AAS's reach across Houston.
Grant Opportunities

Funding That
Finds Us

The shelter program and rescue mission align AAS with the exact priorities of the country's largest animal welfare grant programs โ€” giving the nonprofit arm access to capital that other boarding facilities simply cannot access.

PetSmart Charities
$10,000 โ€“ $75,000 / grant
Companion animal programs. Explicitly funds homeless shelter pet programs โ€” AAS's strongest and most natural application.
ASPCA Grants
$10,000 โ€“ $50,000 / grant
Broad animal welfare support. Available after 12 months of operations. One of the most respected grant sources in the industry.
Banfield Foundation
$5,000 โ€“ $20,000 / grant
Specifically designed to keep pets with low-income families โ€” directly aligned with AAS's shelter partnership mission.
Petco Love
$5,000 โ€“ $25,000 / grant
Innovative rescue models. AAS's dual-structure and Houston-first approach is a natural differentiator in the application pool.
MuttNation / Miranda Lambert
$5,000 โ€“ $25,000 / grant
Texas-based focus. Rescue operations with demonstrable community impact programs. Geographically aligned.
Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo
$5,000 โ€“ $25,000 / grant
Community-based Houston organizations. Animal and agricultural connection adds a strong cultural resonance for AAS.

Total Year 2 Grant Target: $75,000 โ€“ $150,000 for the nonprofit rescue arm ยท reduces LLC dependency and increases investor distributions
